Graduates


Dear LMS and LHS Community:

  • Exams Early Release: LMS/LHS will operate on an early release schedule during Final Exams from June 13 - June 16, with an 11:00 a.m. dismissal. 
  • Holocaust Presentation: On Thursday, June 8th students in grades 7-11 attended a presentation given by Jeff Israel, a descendent of two Holocaust survivors. He shared the story of his parents life, the challenges they faced as children and the legacy they left. 
  • Moving-Up Ceremony: for 8th grade students and families, will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at 5:00 p.m. This is an outdoor ceremony, but in case of inclement weather it will be moved indoors. Following the ceremony, there will be a dance held for 8th grade students. Food and Snacks will be provided! Students should be picked-up from the dance at 7:45 p.m. 
  • 8th Grade Field Trip: to Holiday Hill Resort in Prospect, CT on Thursday, June 15th. Students will depart from school at 8:00 a.m. and return to school at 4:45 p.m. 
  • 2023 Graduation:  The Class of 2023 graduation will be held on Friday, June 16 at Plumb Hill Fields at 6:30 p.m.  

Reserved seating for families of seniors. Seating: will allow for senior families to invite 10 guests. Additional guests will need to provide their own seating on Plumb Hill fields. Rain date is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m.  

  • Lost and Found  There are numerous articles of clothing left behind at the middle and high school. Please remind your student to check the railing outside the main office. Thank you. 
  • Library Books!  All library books students still have checked out must be returned before the end of the year. Books may be returned  in the bin outside the library. Check your email for a list of books checked out to you. 
  • Car Wash! LHS Classes of 2024 and 2025 will host a car wash at Litchfield Fire House on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The cost is $5 per car, and the proceeds will benefit class activities.  
  • Aim for the Stars Fundraiser: 3rd annual Matthew Rousseau Aim for the Stars scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, June 10 at Bristol Sports Armory. Admission is $5.00 for students, $10 for adults. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with Girl’s all-star Game at 5:30 pm. and Boys’ All-Star game at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds go towards an LHS senior boy basketball scholarship. 
  • Juneteenth: In May of 2022, the State of Connecticut approved Juneteenth Independence Day (PA 22-128) as a legal state holiday. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the Union army alerted the enslaved people in Galveston, TX to the fact that slavery had ended with the Emancipation Proclamation two and a half years prior.
  • By law, local school districts in Connecticut may choose to close schools on June 19th or "hold a suitable educational program" in observance of Juneteenth. As Region 6 and Litchfield schools are in session on June 19th, elementary teachers will share a reading of Juneteenth for Mazie by Floyd Cooper with students. Secondary teachers will share the video Google Doodle illustrated by artist Loveis Wise and narrated by actor LeVar Burton.
