Los Alebriejes

Students at LHS, along with their teacher Michele Murelli, spent 6 months painting this mural during their advisory period. It is 20 feet long and about 2.5 feet wide. The animals pictured are called Alebrijes, fantasy folk art figures painted with brightly colored, intricate patterns. These spirit animals are considered guides and protectors. The AP Spanish students did the art history research on the origins of theses Zapotec folk art animals, and their research will be printed for guests @ the Corner Taco Bar to learn about the amazing mural.
