Spelling Bee at LIS

On Friday, April 1, LIS held our annual spelling bee.  Spellers went nineteen rounds before Sophie Reynolds (winner) and Lillian Lipinsky (runner-up) were named our two finalists.  Sophie and Lily will advance to the inter-district Spelling Bee on April 12.  Congratulations to Sophie, Lily, and all our participants!

A Message from the Nurse's Office:

For Students Presently in 6th Grade and Entering 7th Grade:

A complete physical is required within 12 months of the first day of 7th grade. I must have the completed "blue" physical form on file prior to your child's last day of 6th grade. The blue State of Connecticut Health Assessment form (see link here) must be completed by your child's physician with all required immunization dates noted. The front of this form is to be completed by the student's parent or legal guardian.

The State of Connecticut Department of Education and the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health requires a complete State of Connecticut Health Assessment performed for each child prior to entering Kindergarten, grades 7 and 11, as well as required immunizations for each of these grades.

A complete physical examination, recorded on the “blue” State of Connecticut Health Assessment Record form, is required to have been completed within 12 months during your child’s 6th grade school year. I must receive the completed "blue" physical form prior to your child's last day of 6th grade.

Please note that the "blue" State of Connecticut Health Assessment form must be completed by your child's physician with all items marked with an *asterisk performed at the time of the physical examination and include but not limited to HCT/HGB. Immunization requirements for 6th/7th grade are to be recorded or attached by your physician on the “blue” State of Connecticut Health Assessment form. Please be sure the form includes the immunizations given to your child on the day of the appointment. The front of this form is to be completed by the student's parent or legal guardian.

Students who do not meet the state requirement will not be allowed to attend the first day of school for the 7th grade.

For the current school year:

The CT Health Assessment form must be on file by the last day of your child's 6th grade school year, but no later than the first day of school when your child enters 7th grade. Thank you for your cooperation in this state requirement. You are urged to schedule a doctor's appointment as soon as possible. Please contact me with any questions or concerns at 860-567-7523 or cordanit@lpsct.org. Thank you.
