Raising Emotionally & Socially Healthy Kids: A Lecture-Discussion Series

Presented by the Oliver Wolcott Library & Litchfield Parent Teacher Organizations

Live on Zoom:

Mondays: 7:00 - 8:30 PM

May 8 - June 19*

* No class May 29

Zoom Participants:  Zoom Link - click here at 7 PM on Mondays beginning May 8.

About the Series: All you need to do in advance is be eager to learn and discuss. Each week, you will log in and together, via Zoom, all of us will watch approximately one hour of this series instructed on video by Dr. Kennedy-Moore, then, via Zoom, OWL's Caroline Wilcox Ugurlu will guide everyone to discuss the lectures. Whether helping a child learn how to manage anger, make new friends, resolve conflicts, or gain confidence, Raising Emotionally and Socially Healthy Kids arms you with pragmatic strategies that work. Through these lectures, you will gain access to the same practical advice and actionable plans that Dr. Eileen Kennedy-Moore—an author and in-demand psychologist who serves on the advisory board for Parents magazine—shares with clients in her Princeton, New Jersey, practice. Drawing from the doctor’s extensive clinical experience—as well as her personal experience as a mother of four—you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your child’s development and how to compassionately address common stumbling blocks at every stage including: techniques to inspire cooperation; ideas for instilling a sense of empathy; ways to deal with back-talk and aggression; strategies for helping kids make and keep friends; methods that help children cope with and conquer anxiety; and more. About the video instructor: Eileen Kennedy-Moore is an author and clinical psychologist who specializes in parenting and children’s feelings and friendships in her Princeton, NJ practice (license #35SI00425400). She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Northwestern University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Stony Brook University. She is the coauthor of two books for parents, Smart Parenting for Smart Kids: Nurturing Your Child’s True Potential and The Unwritten Rules of Friendship: Simple Strategies to Help Your Child Make Friends and has published numerous academic articles.
