Hello Region 20 Families,

In addition to the other two "r's" of summer, relaxing and rejuvenating, we are asking students to do one additional task to help maintain all their progress from this school year...and that's READ!

Your child has brought home a Bob Kitty cinch sack to be used to check out books from your local library and/or carry books with them on all their summer adventures. Whether it's to the beach, camp, a friend or family's house, or a vacation destination, having books on hand helps to make reading a daily habit!

This summer students will be using Beanstack to track their summer reading minutes. Independent reading, being read to, and/or listening to an audio book...every minute counts! Our Region 20 K-5 goal is to collectively read a total of 5,000 minutes this summer!

Your child has also brought home a Region 20 Beanstack Summer Reading Flyer as well as a Beanstack 101 Guide with their personal login information. The flyer and login information are also available on our Region 20 website under Student Summer Work.

Don't forget to take some pictures with your Bob Kitty cinch sack and books. Consider sharing the pictures with your school's librarian and/or classroom teacher, so we can display all your reading adventures next school year!

Also, consider checking out Reading Rockets for more information on how to support summer reading and learning:

Thank you for all that you do to support your children's learning!

Have an amazing summer! Happy reading!
